Welcome to the FitTime Blog

In my youth, I never had to consciously exercise or eat healthily. I was swimming at relatively high level, training over 20 hours every week. I could literally eat whatever I want. For those who say you can out train a bad diet, they don’t know what real training is. If you also consider that I wasn’t even a long distance swimmer or an elite level swimmer. It is perfectly reasonable to think that an Olympic level swimmer would be swimming 50% further.

It is not hard to see why many swimmers get incredibly fat once they stop swimming. I was no different; I piled on fat and lost a lot of muscle. I was skinny fat. A few years ago I decided to change that but there was no way I was going to be swimming that far again. I didn’t have the motivation to do it anymore and I didn’t have the time even if I wanted to.

This is my journey of me taking on mainstream fitness in the gym and using the strength training principles I learnt from swimming. This is not just a journal but also things that I have learnt along the way.
